Frankincense is the English word derived from Old French "franc encens" (i.e., high quality incense). Frankincense is also called olibanum and its an aromatic resin used in incense, perfumes and medicines. Frankincense is obtained from the trees of genus Boswellia in the family Burseraceae which is mostly grown and traded on the Arabian Peninsula in North Africa and Somalia through out the centuries. Frankincense was a highly valued commodity for commerce on ancient spice routes. Frankincense is also used as an Insect repellent.
Precautions
Frankincense should not be administered to Infants or Toddlers. It should be kept away from the eyes and mucous membranes and out of children's reach.
